Keeping the memory alive

It’s always sad when someone’s passed away
But that’s the perfect time to seize the day
And relish all that’s passed before
By opening the door
To golden moments, funny times and warm embraces
That help us forward by travelling back to happier places.

It is a time to grieve and feel regret
But also the perfect time to not forget
A life remembered is a life that lives on
Long after flesh and blood and living in the mortal sense has gone
And while from here we feel a precious one has departed
In a more eternal place
A far off, smiling, familiar face
Will welcome their arrival
As a new journey on our never-ending road is started.

It is so hard for loved ones left behind
But if we can find the strength to choose
A happier location, deep in our imagination
For those we lose
We’ll find daily, weekly, lifelong, peace of mind
That they will never
Be truly lost forever
But always burning bright and playing their starring roles
In the playing out of life ahead, within our hearts and souls.
